I see writing and teaching as essential to my activism. My workshops and lectures merge written and spoken word with activist pursuits to create a more just world, one without violence.
* Public speaking
Need a speaker for your campus or organization? Someone who knows about social justice, feminist activism, antiracist work, and/or envisioning a world without sexual violence? I can assist you!
45-60-minute workshops and presentations are interactive and engaging. They speak openly and frankly about the realities of sexual violence on college campuses as well as how students are mobilizing forces to undo a culture of sexual violence. Students walk away with new knowledge and insights as well as a sense of empowerment that comes from community building.
From conceptual editing for your next project to copy editing your current one, I can assist you. I have over 12 years' experience as a copy editor, proofreader, book editor, and journal editor. Editing workshops are tailored to the writer and are available in person, via skype or facetime, or via phone.
* Academic publication
I speak often to graduate and undergraduate classes about the process of writing for publication in academic journals. This workshop -- often given to a classroom full of inquiring students, but can also be tailored for a smaller, interdisciplinary audience -- includes information on how to tailor research questions and convey relevance to a broader audience, how to review manuscripts for professional journals, and demystifying the process of submitting work for review and publication to academic journals.
Fees for my work vary based on the project, time required, travel, and needs. I am willing to work with you or your organization to help you brainstorm ideas for fundraising, if need be, and I always offer discounted rates to social justice and community groups. Please contact me if you want more information and to help me create a workshop or meeting that meets your needs.
