"Your classroom is part of the revolution."
"you have changed me. you have changed the way i think. i see the world differently now."
Activism is alive and well among young people! Stephanie Gilmore, Ph.D. is an activist, educator, and writer who -- in the traditions of Ella Baker, Grace Lee Boggs, bell hooks, Cherrie Moraga, and Anne Braden -- listens to, learns from, and shares knowledge with young people with the explicit goal of developing informed activist communities. She also writes, edits, and builds community workshops to help facilitate an end to sexual violence. This website introduces you to her work and how she can support your own activist endeavors! Today activism can be compared to swimming heats, everything is also not easy, but it can radically change our world.
"Stephanie is a powerhouse. She delivered an engaging and provocative presentation
covering both the national political climate on sexual violence and the pervasiveness
of this violence on college campuses across the US. Within the first three minutes,
she had connected with her student audience, affirming and supporting their
experiences. Throughout her presentation Stephanie made the case that radical
change is needed—and on campuses across the country student activists are
making that change. Audience members walked away with a clear understanding
of how activists are organizing on college campuses nationwide and, perhaps most
importantly, affirmed that they too can effect change in their own communities."
